Perimi

Know right away when the parent you look after falls, asks for help or wanders from a safe place.

Perimi is an iPhone and Apple Watch app for families caring for an older relative with dementia or Parkinson's. Their devices keep watch quietly in the background. You and the rest of the family get the alert, and if nobody answers, Perimi follows up with texts and phone calls.

How it works

Set up once, then it keeps watch

Perimi is one app with two modes. You use it as a caregiver on your own iPhone. On your relative's iPhone it runs in monitored mode, with nothing for them to manage beyond a Get Help button.

  1. Set up your family and safe zones

Sign in on your iPhone with your phone number or with Apple. Add the person you look after, set their home, and draw safe zones on a map, such as home or a day centre.

  2. Pair their iPhone and Apple Watch

Show a one-time pairing code on your phone and scan it with their iPhone. They don't need an account. If they wear an Apple Watch paired with that iPhone, the watch is set up too.

  3. Get alerted, with follow-up

Alerts arrive as time-sensitive notifications with an Acknowledge button. If no one acknowledges, they escalate to text messages and then phone calls.

What Perimi watches for

The moments you worry about

Each alert says what happened and shows your relative's last known location on a map.

  • Hard falls

When Apple Watch fall detection notices a hard fall and your relative doesn't tell the watch they're OK, caregivers are alerted. Available on supported Apple Watch models.

  • Safe zones

Draw the places where your relative should be, like home. If they leave every safe zone for more than two minutes, you're told.

  • Distance from home

An extra check for when someone goes unusually far from home. The alert grows more urgent as the distance grows.

  • Get Help button

Your relative holds Hold for Help for two seconds on their iPhone or Apple Watch. A deliberate hold means fewer accidental alerts.

  • Monitoring lost

If your relative's devices stop checking in, for example a flat battery or location switched off, you see that monitoring isn't working and why.

  • Drills

Run a drill any time to send a test alert through the whole chain, so you know notifications, texts and calls reach everyone.

  • A family, not one person

Alerts go to every caregiver in the family. When one of you acknowledges, the escalation stops and the others are told you're handling it.

If nobody answers

An alert isn't dropped because a phone was on silent

Alerts for a fall, a Get Help press, a safe zone or distance from home keep going until a caregiver acknowledges them. A monitoring-lost notice arrives as a notification only.

  1. NotificationA time-sensitive notification on every caregiver's iPhone, with an Acknowledge button.
  2. Text messagesIf no one acknowledges, caregivers get a text message.
  3. Phone callsThen Perimi calls caregivers, one after another, until someone acknowledges.
Privacy

Their location stays in the family

  • Your relative's location is shared only with the caregivers in your family.
  • No ads, no tracking and no analytics. We don't sell data.
  • Location history is kept for 30 days. You can delete your account in the app, under Settings, at any time.

Important

  • Perimi is not a medical device and does not replace emergency services. It never contacts emergency services for you.
  • In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
  • Alerts depend on your relative's devices having power, a signal and the right permissions, and on caregivers' phones being able to receive them. Detection can miss things.
