Perimi Support

Getting started

  1. On your own iPhone, open Perimi, choose I look after someone, and sign in with your phone number or with Apple.
  2. Name your family, add the person you look after, and set their home.
  3. Tap ⋯ → Pair a device. On their iPhone, install Perimi, choose This iPhone is for the person being looked after, and scan the code with the Camera app (or type it). If they wear an Apple Watch paired with that iPhone, it is set up too.
  4. On their iPhone, allow location Always and notifications.

Common questions

  • "Monitoring degraded": the reasons are listed under the banner, for example location not set to Always, low battery, or a device that has not checked in for 20 minutes.
  • The code didn't work: codes work once and expire after 10 minutes. Create a new one.
  • Stop monitoring a phone: on that phone, tap Family settings, sign in as a caregiver of the family, and tap Stop monitoring this phone.
  • Delete your account: Settings → Delete account (see the Privacy Policy for what is deleted).

Perimi is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

More questions

How does pairing work?

On your iPhone, in caregiver mode, tap ⋯ → Pair a device. Perimi shows a QR code and a pairing code. On your relative's iPhone, install Perimi, choose This iPhone is for the person being looked after, and scan the QR code with the Camera app or type the code.

A code works once and expires after 10 minutes. Your relative doesn't create an account. If they wear an Apple Watch paired with that iPhone, the watch is set up too. Afterwards, allow location Always and notifications on their iPhone.

What happens if no one acknowledges an alert?

Alerts arrive on caregivers' iPhones as time-sensitive notifications with an Acknowledge button. If no one acknowledges, the alert escalates: Perimi sends text messages, then calls the family's caregivers one after another until someone acknowledges.

When any caregiver acknowledges, the texts and calls stop and the other caregivers are told that someone is handling it. A notice that monitoring stopped working arrives as a notification only. Perimi never contacts emergency services.

How do I test that alerts reach everyone?

Tap ⋯ → Run a drill. A drill sends a test alert, texts the family's phones and calls each caregiver once, unless someone acknowledges it first. Drills are limited to a few per hour.

How do I stop monitoring?

On your relative's iPhone, tap Family settings, sign in as a caregiver of the family, and tap Stop monitoring this phone. This disconnects the iPhone and its Apple Watch. You can also remove an old device from the Devices list on the Home screen of your own app.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings → Delete account. If you are the only caregiver, your family's data is deleted too, and the paired iPhone and Apple Watch stop monitoring. If other caregivers remain, only your account is deleted and monitoring continues. The privacy policy lists exactly what is deleted.

Which devices are supported?

Caregivers need an iPhone with iOS 17 or later. The person being looked after needs an iPhone with iOS 17 or later, and can add an Apple Watch with watchOS 10 or later that is paired with that iPhone.

Fall alerts use Apple Watch fall detection, so they need a supported Apple Watch model with fall detection turned on. Safe-zone, distance and Get Help alerts work with the iPhone alone.
